A car transporter can be hired from STERLING Automotive

Our own car transporter is available for you to hire.

The cost is just £80.00 per day Plus £0.10 per mile (Plus VAT at 17.5%).

If you wish to use it, here's a few simple things to know.

It has a lightweight body with a 1600kg load capacity, which means you can carry any car up to aproximately the weight of a 5 series BMW (you can usually look up the weight of your car with a simple Google search).

You can drive it on a standard car licence without the need for an operators license.

You are welcome leave your own car with us during the hire period or if you wish, we can even deliver the transporter to your address at a cost of £1.00 per mile.

How to hire the transporter.

Simple, just phone us on 01635 569444 for a quick chat and then send an email to confirm the booking.

You will need to take out fully comprehensive insurance cover for the period of the hire. To do so, you can talk to your own insurance company or visit our preferred insurance provider (Tempcover) and fill out a simple online form.

Documents you will need to bring with you on the day.

When you arrive to take the transporter away, you must bring the following documents with you.

Your driving license (both parts).

Your insurance certificate (or cover note).

A utility bill (showing your home address).

We will also require you to present a credit or debit card.

Payment terms:

Details of the hirers credit or debit card will be taken on commencement of the hire. We will not debit any payment from the card at this time but it will allow us to debit an amount to cover our costs or uninsured losses if the transporter should be damaged or any items be stolen whilst in your possession. It is a term of the hire that you must pre-authorise us to debit an amount up to your insurance policy excess or a maximum of £500.00 until such a time as repairs etc have been carried out or any dispute settled.

Should the hire period be for over three days, we will debit £100.00 per day in advance for the expected hire period. The transporter must be returned with the same quantity of fuel as when it was hired. A 20% surcharge will be levied against any fuel required to refill the tank. If the hirer enters the central London congestion zone with our transporter, the hirer must pay the congestion charge for that transporter. It is solely the hirers responsibility to ensure that the charge is paid, as Sterling cannot make the payment on the hirers behalf.

Damage:

At the start of the hire period, a condition report will be filled out by a Sterling Automotive representative for the vehicle hired and agreed by the hirer. Upon completion of the hire, the vehicle will be checked against the original condition report. If loss or damage has been caused to the transporter (ie damage is found that is not noted on the original condition report), the damage must be paid for by the hirer or the hirers insurers who has the right to commission independent repair estimates. The choice of repairer ultimately rests with Sterling. Any dispute that cannot be resolved may be arbitrated by the VBRA. Tyre punctures are the responsibility of the hirer and the damaged tyre must be replaced with a new identical tyre prior to completion of the hire. Windsreen damage that is obviously caused by a stone chip is the responsibility of Sterling Automotive but damage caused in any other way is the responsibility of the hirer.

Breakdown cover:

The car transporter that you are hiring has AA breakdown roadside assist cover, along with recovery back to Sterling Automotive (details and relevant documents are kept in the vehicle). If the AA need to take the vehicle to a local garage for repair, we will consider meeting reasonable costs provided that we have agreed to and authorised any costs BEFORE commencement of work. If you arrange to have the vehicle recovered to a destination other than back to Sterling Automotive, you will be responsible for arranging transport back to us and the vehicle will remain on hire until returned unless agreed in writing by us. Breakdown cover is only in place for the UK mainland.

Taking the vehicle abroad:

Our transporter may be taken to any European Union Country but not out of the European Union. If you take any vehicle to a European Union Country, you should take the V5 registration document. However, as the vehicle is not registered in your own name, this is not possible, so you must have a form E103 instead, which shows that the vehicle is on hire to you.
